The AMRI Hospital at Dhakuria in South Kolkata reopened on Monday. The hospital had remained shut for nearly two years after a massive fire killed more than 90 people. Confirming the development, a company spokesperson said the outpatient department, diagnostics clinics and the pharmacy – spread across ground and first floors of the building – have been made operational.

The hospital management, however, is awaiting clearances from the State Government for the in-patient section. “It will take us some more time to obtain licences to open the in-patient section,” the spokesperson added.

Following the mishap on December 9, 2011, the board of directors of AMRI hospital was reshuffled. Currently, the members on the board include O. P. Jhunjhunwala, A. K. Malawat, Manish Goenka, Ravi Todi, Rajesh Parekh .
