The Indian community will be the most influential set of people as India celebrates 100 years of independence, and the country will be in the top spot globally, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu said here on Friday.

“Indians will become number 1 community in the world by 2047 and India will be in the first or second spot,” the chief minister said at IIT-Madras as he presided over the institute’s All India Research Scholars Summit (AIRSS) 2025. “In 2047, I also want to see the Telugu community among the top of the group of influential Indians,” he added.

In the near future, India will be a wealth creator for the world, and our demographic dividend and our “adjustable” nature to adapt to any conditions will pay off, he added. Amid talks of Southern states’ dwindling population, the chief minister emphasised the need for the South to “manage” the population rather than control it.

Addressing a gathering of research scholars, professors and other guests, Naidu said that IIT-Madras, its director V Kamakoti, IBM, TCS and other private sector players were helping his government build up Amaravati as a hub for new age technologies. “You have all heard of Silicon Valley but we are looking at making Amaravati the Quantum Valley of the world,” he said.

The city will be the hub of all futuristic technologies, including quantum tech, he said, urging student innovators from IIT-Madras to come to Amaravati to test out products and build their start-ups. I am happy to know that almost 30 per cent of IIT-Madras are Telugu students, he said.

The AIRSS event, being held from March 27 to March 30, is dedicated to fostering research collaborations with the industry. It brings together scholars, academicians, industry leaders, and innovators from diverse fields across India.

The summit also saw the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the University of Southern Queensland, Australia and IIT Madras, facilitating exchange programs and joint degree opportunities for IITM students. The institute, for the first time, is also organising a Job Fair for IIT Madras Research Scholars and other researchers from all over India.
