Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has urged the officials to expedite the work on construction of Amaravati, the new capital, without compromising on quality or standards.

He reviewed the work on capital construction here on Friday with officials. He said Amaravati should be developed as a modern smart city with all the amenities, making use of the latest technologies. A world class stadium should be built by 2018 to host the national games.

The officials explained to him that by December 31,2017, the arterial and sub-arterial roads would be laid in the capital region to a length of 270 km at a cost of Rs 3,600 crore and other roads would be laid to cover 130 km in the area. The capital would have star hotels, iconic parks, modern hospitals and other amenities and facilities on a par with some of the most modern cities in Europe. Sites were being identified and discussions were in progress with hotel groups such as Taj group and also hospitals.
