AP High Court CJ, judges sworn in; HC starts functioning in Vijayawada

Andhra Pradesh got a separate High Court on New Year’s Day and the court is being temporarily housed in the Chief Minister’s camp office here.

Chief Justice Praveen Kumar and other judges of the AP High Court were administered the Oath of Office at the Indira Gandhi municipal stadium on Tuesday by AP and Telangana Governor ESL Narasimhan. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu attended the swearing-in ceremony.

The AP High Court staff arrived at Amaravati from Hyderabad in three private buses.

Completion

According to Municipal Administration Minister P Narayana, the construction of the city civil courts building is underway at Nelapadu and will be completed by the end of the month after which the High Court would shift there.

He said 16 court halls, 12 on the first floor, would be ready by the end of the month.

He said the temporary court complex would have 2.70 lakh sq ft built-up area and was being built at a cost of ₹150 crore.
