AP to seek additional power from NTPC

The Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister, Mr.N.Kiran Kumar Reddy, today directed the Chief Secretary, Ms. Minnie Mathew, to pursue with NTPC to procure the promised additional power to the State.

During the review meeting of the electricity generation and supply position, the officials informed that demand-supply gap was 30 million units on Monday and has shot up to 35 MU today.

The Chief Minister was informed that seven hours of free power supply to the farm sector during kharif operations was maintained in all 9295 agriculture feeders except 13 feeders in the State.

The State has received moderate rains in many parts and there have been improved inflows into Tungabhadra reservoir. The State hopes that if the monsoon is widespread, the demand from farm sector and domestic consumers comes down.
