To decide later on PPAs

A high-powered Central Committee to resolve power sector issues between Andhra Pradesh and Telangana has decided to allocate additional 1.77 per cent of power to the former.

The committee headed by Neeraj Mathur met in Delhi today to sort out some of the concerns in the power sector between the two States.

The two States, AP and Telangana, were earlier allocated power in the ratio of 46.11 and 53.89 respectively.

During the meeting, after representations by both the States, the committee decided to allocate additional power to Andhra Pradesh as a part of the sharing methodology. It is learnt that representatives from Telangana agreed to allocating additional power to AP.

With regard to the AP Government's move to scrap power purchase agreements, the committee has decided to convene another meeting on July 24. While both the States having presented their views on the contentious issue, the meeting to be held again will have a bearing on the matter.
