Change in mindset is needed to make the country clean and tidy, according to M Venkaiah Naidu, Union Minister for Urban Development.

Addressing a press conference here on Monday, he said the Swachh Bharat programme is not a political statement but a cultural movement involving all stakeholders.

Effective measures should be taken for solid waste management and making environment healthy, he said, adding that public private partnership was required for achieving these objectives.

"I have spoken to all Governors, political leaders, religious institutions and celebrities to spread the message of this movement, " Naidu said.

One should not politicise the scheme and see it as a cultural renaissance, he added.
