Get set to pay more for general insurance premium. This is in addition to the enhanced third party motor insurance rates, which too comes into effect starting Saturday. The change in premium after modification will be limited to +/ 5 per cent of the existing rates.

Stamping and tagging of the hand baggage of fliers at seven major airports, including Delhi and Mumbai, will be done away with from April 1. The other airports which will see the new system of baggage security coming in include the ones in Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Kochi and Ahmedabad.

Truckers to go off the roads indefinitely to protest against the steep rise in third party insurance premium. The South India Motor Transport Association has already gone for the indefinite strike from Thursday and the All India Confederation of Goods Vehicles Owners’ Association has called for an indefinite strike across India for an indefinite period from April 1.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the country's longest road tunnel between Kashmir Valley and Jammu on Sunday. The tunnel will cut short the journey duration by two hours. The project has been completed at a cost of over Rs 2,500 crore.

Fans of actor Rajinikanth will meet on April 2 here for a consultative meet in which they are hoping for the superstar’s participation. The coming meeting was likely to be on the scale of the 2009 interaction of all the district functionaries of the fans association.
