November 25

Mumbai will take on bottom-placed Tripura in their last Group C Ranji Trophy league game beginning in Mumbai on Saturday. For 41-time champions Mumbai it’s a must-win game. Mumbai are in the third spot with 14 points, having won a lone match and drawn four others. This season has been pretty tough for the Mumbai side coached by former India stumper Sameer Dighe.

The I-League will kick off with the first match of the season played between Minerva Punjab and Mohun Bagan in Ludhiana. The 11th edition of the Hero I-League will be played over three months and will run parallel to the more glamorous Indian Super League as the two competitions battle for primacy in Indian football.

Nepal will hold its first phase of provincial and parliamentary elections. The elections are seen as the final step in Nepal’s transition to a federal democracy following a decade-long civil war till 2006 that claimed more than 16,000 lives. More than 300,000 members of the security forces will be deployed for the two-stage election, with northern provinces voting on Sunday and southern areas and Kathmandu going to the polls on December 7.

Uttar Pradesh will hold elections for 25 districts in the second phase of civic polls on Sunday. And, elections to 26 seats will be held on November 29 in the third and final phase. Over 52 per cent voting was recorded in the first phase, with the Congress bastion Amethi logging a high turnout of 68.44 per cent and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s hometurf Gorakhpur registering the lowest.

Gionee has planned a slew of launches - about eight new smartphones. The company had launched its new lineup of A series smartphones A1 and A1 Plus at the Mobile World Congress 2017 earlier this year.
