Health centres to be set up in Delhi

To augment healthcare facilities at the local level, the Delhi Government today announced launching of nine health centres in various parts of the national capital that would have facilities for consultation and basic investigation.

Health Minister A.K. Walia also said that land has been acquired for another six health centres, while the city government has approached the Delhi Development Authority seeking land for constructing another 24 centres.

Laying the foundation stone for a health centre at Pandav Nagar in East Delhi, he said the centre will be constructed at a cost of Rs 54 lakh in five months.

The centres will provide OPD consultation, free medicines, basic investigations on reproductive child health, immunisation programme and referral services to the Government and 42 major private hospitals providing free treatment to poor patients.

He said such centres would also be opened in Shakurpur School Block, Molar Band (Gautam Puri), Madan Pur Khadar, Phase-1 and Phase-2, Rohini Sec-4 and Sec-21, Gandhi Vihar, Bindapur and Buland Masjid (Shastri Park).
