Larsen & Tourbro Ltd, the concessionaire developing the mega Hyderabad metro rail project has been directed to submit the feasibility report and financial implications of the proposed alignment change for the metro corridors.
The construction major is implementing a 72-km elevated metro rail project in Hyderabad across three dense corridors and it has been recently asked by the Telangana Government to consider change in alignment at busy locations, including opposite the State Assembly.
A special task force meeting chaired by Telangana Chief Secretary Rajiv Sharma, while discussing the progress of feasibility report for alternate alignments at three locations of Hyderabad Metro Rail corridors, directed the concessionaire to submit the report along with financial implications for follow up action.
This assumes importance in the backdrop of the project implementation pace being impacted due to the proposed change in alignment and possible cost escalation.
During the Special Task Force meeting, NVS Reddy, Managing Director of Hyderabad Metro, made a detailed presentation on land acquisition and hurdles faced by the project in its implementation and the way forward.
The acquisitions of 251 public/private properties were discussed for further action including dismantling. It was decided to expedite the acquisitions held up due to legal hurdles by working towards early disposal of the cases.
B. Venkatesham, State Secretary Home, presented a Security Plan for Hyderabad Metro Rail outlining the responsibilities to be shared by the State Government and the Concessionaire. VB Gadgil, L&T Metro CEO and MD, was asked to study the security plan prepared by the three-member committee consisting of MD, HMR and Police Commissioners of Hyderabad and Cyberabad, and submit a report.
