The Left Front on Saturday announced that it would hold a two week-long agitation programme protesting the hike in prices of foodgrains and essential commodities. The demonstrations will be carried out across all blocks and municipal areas between July 4 and July 17, Mr Biman Bose, Chairman, Left Front, told presspersons at the CPI (M) party headquarters (Alimuddin Street).

“We will also organise an agitation campaign in the districts on July 16 and in Kolkata on July 17,” Mr Bose said. According to him, the Government should ‘evolve a mechanism’ to control the prices of foodgrains and essential commodities.
