The Congress’ jugglery with caste has the BJP attempting a bit of magic as the election battle warms up in Gujarat.
According to media reports, the BJP has approached its Maharashtra unit for a group of 50 magicians to spice up its election campaign in the high-stakes State. Media reports quoting S Lal, a magician from Nagpur, suggested that special magic shows will be organised during public meetings to be addressed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other senior party leaders. The magicians’ performances will seek to create awareness about the achievements of the BJP government. “After South Gujarat and Saurashtra, we will organise shows in central Gujarat from December 8,” Lal was quoted as saying. The BJP declined to comment.
The reports have sparked much mirth in the State, where a prominent daily ran for years cartoons headlined “Modi the Magician!”, lampooning the then Chief Minister’s various announcements.
