BJP prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi will begin his campaign in Tamil Nadu with an election rally in Chennai on Sunday.

According to party sources, the rally will be held at 7 p.m. at A M Jain College in Meenambakkam.

‎He will then proceed to Ramanathapuram, Coimbatore, Erode, Salem and Krishnagiri next week to address the election rallies there, the sources said.

Incidentally, Congress President Sonia Gandhi will be addressing an election rally in Nagercoil on April 16, a statement from the Tamil Nadu Congress Committee said.

The visit of Modi is expected to boost the chances of the six party 'rainbow alliance' in Tamil Nadu. ‎BJP has aligned with DMDK headed by actor-turned-politician Vijaykanth, MDMK headed by Vaiko, PMK headed by Dr Ramdoss., and two smaller parties to take on the two Dravidian parties, Congress and the Communist parties in a mualti-corenered fight.
