Modi wins Maninagar constituency by 86,373 votes

Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi has won the Maninagar constituency by 86,373 votes.

Earlier, Modi was leading by 70,000 votes in Maninagar constituency against Shweta Bhatt.

Modi has polled 94,646 votes while Shweta, wife of suspended IPS officer Sanjeev Bhatt, has polled 24,095 votes so far after 12 rounds of counting, official sources said.

In 2007, Modi had won the elections by more than 87,000 votes.

BJP appears all set to come to power in the state for the third consecutive term as it was leading in 114 constituencies out of 181, where the trends were available.

Congress was leading on 62 seats, NCP on one, Gujarat Parivartan Party on three and JD(U) on one, according to state election office sources.
