More banks allowed to open counters at Chennai airport

Airports Authority of India has allowed nationalised and scheduled commercial banks to operate currency small exchange counter on a temporary basis at the Chennai airport ‘free of cost’ up to December 31. No levy will be charged for space and electricity at the airport.

As part of facilitating airport users and air travellers, AAI has allowed nationalised and scheduled commercial banks to open and operate on a temporary basis the small counters, says a press release from Chennai airport.

At both international and domestic terminals, so far, State Bank of India, Indian Bank, Dena Bank, City Union Bank, ICICI Bank and IDBI have opened their exchange counters to facilitate currency exchanges, the release said.
