Backing the Congress’ election promise of minimum income guarantee scheme of ₹6,000 per month, the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) said every political party presents development programmes before voters for their economic and social progress.
DP Tripathi, General Secretary, NCP, said criticising the scheme based on solid logic is the right of every citizen, but ridiculing it without any basis is not right.
Referring to the slogan of BJP’s earlier avatar, Bharatiya Jana Sangh in the late 60s,
Tripathi also said the parties in the Mahagathbandhan are still working on identifying a common candidate who can take on (Narendra) Modi in Varanasi and the name will be announced soon.
Reacting to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s blog post describing the Mahagatbandhan as “Maha milawat for satta, swarth and shoshan” , Tripathi said the comment does not reflect well on somebody who is holding the highest position in a country, which is known for not using unparliamentary words even against its enemy.
