Rahul Gandhi visits flood-hit Kerala

Visit various relief camps in the two-day tour

Congress president Rahul Gandhi arrived here on a two-day visit to the flood-ravaged areas of the state, particularly the central and northern parts.

He is scheduled to board a helicopter and reach Chengannur in Alappuzha district where he will visit a relief camp at the Engineering College, at 10.30 am. Then, he will visit Edanad village in Chengannur and, later, a relief camp at the Camelot Convention Centre in Alappuzha where he would felicitate a group of fishermen for their contribution to the rescue operations.

At 1.30 pm, Gandhi will visit a relief camp at the LEO XIII School, Alappuzha, and take off to Thrissur district where he will visit TRS Puram, Chalakudy, at 3.30 pm. He will then meet people at relief camp in Saint Francis Assisi School, Paravoor, Ernakulam, and nearby Kerala Auditorium, before retiring for the day.

On Wednesday, Gandhi will flag off a convoy of relief material trucks at Marine Drive, Kochi, and take off for Wayanad where he will visit the relief camp at Kothara town at 11 am. He will later touch down at the last stopover at the relief camp at Kolaval Colony in Wayanad before flying back to New Delhi.
