Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Ltd’s Visakhapatnam steel plant has been given one month to sort out the decade-old issue of promotion of 284 SC employees.
Failed talks PM Kamalamma, member of the National Commission for Scheduled Castes, told reporters here on Monday that if RINL was not able to find an amicable settlement, the commission will constitute a committee to study the issue and suggest a solution.
She gave the direction after a discussion with the company’s management on Monday failed to get any solution to the issue concerning SC employees who were not given promotions even after a law was passed on the Rule of Reservation in promotions.
Also, the employees were denied new scales and were not given pay protection in promotion, she said.
She interacted with 30 SC associations from a number of organisations.
She took representations from the representatives on the implementation of the Rule of Reservation for SCs and said the commission will take it up with the respective managements.
