National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (Nabard) has sanctioned Rs 270.98 crore to the State from the Rural Infrastructure Development Fund XIX. It supports 15 rural roads and two bridges in seven districts; 12 groyne fields in Kollam and Allapuzha districts; and one project for kole land development each in Malappuram and Thrissur.
The overall cost is estimated at Rs 304.35 crore, of which 95 per cent support is for groynes and kole land development projects.
During 2013-14, the State Government can draw an amount of Rs1,060 crore for the ongoing projects including current sanctions.
“The Government has initiated various measures to improve implementation process. We need to wait and see if this helps in improving efficiency from the 30 per cent achieved during 2012-13,” said R. Amalorpavanathan, chief general manager, Nabard.
