Shenzhen govt to invest $200 m in Gujarat smart city projects

Shenzhen city, which comes under the Central Government of China, has promised to invest $200 million (approx ₹1,300 crore) in ZTESoft's smart city projects for Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar.

“During the visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in May this year, the Shenzhen government had signed two MoUs with the Gujarat government in developing smart cities in the State. We will invest $200 million in ZTESoft, which is implementing smart city projects in Gujarat,” said Tain Fu, standing committee member of CCP Shenzhen committee, who was in Gandhinagar on Saturday.

ZTEsoft is a subsidiary of ZTE Corporation, the largest public telecom equipment manufacturer in China.

“We will provide ICT assistance for smart cities project in Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar. We will implement the projects in association with Municipal Corporations of Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar. We will work on modules such as smart transportation, e-governance, wireless, waste management,” said Prasoon Sharma, managing director for India and South Asia, ZTEsoft Technology.
