A delegation led by RV Deshpande, Karnataka Minister for Large and Medium Industries and Tourism, met global start-ups at Bay Area in Silicon Valley and San Francisco in California.
The delegation is on a tour of US and France to promote ‘Invest Karnataka 2016’ (global investors meet) to be held from February 3 to 5. They met senior executives of global start-ups and made presentations on the strengths of the State.
“The delegation held extensive discussion regarding improving start-up ecosystem in the State and also setting up of innovation clusters to help them to scale-up faster,” said Deshpande.
K Ratna Prabha, Karnataka Additional Chief Secretary, Commerce and Industries Department, said Karnataka has taken several steps to further promote start-ups in the State, including announcing a new Start-up Policy and setting up a start-up council.
“We aim to stimulate the growth of 20,000 tech-based start-ups, including 6,000 product start-ups by 2020, which will create six lakh direct and 12 lakh indirect jobs,” she said.
The delegation included the Commissioner for Industrial Development Gaurav Gupta; Sampathraman, Immediate Past President FKCCI; K Ravi, Vice-President; and MC Dinesh, Senior Vice-President of FKCCI, and other senior officers.
