Six Maharashtrians killed in Pahalgam terror attack; State ministers mobilised for repatriation

In terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, six tourists from Maharashtra lost their lives. The deceased include four residents of Mumbai Metropolitan Region — Atul Mone (43), Hemant Joshi (45), Sanjay Lele (50) and Dilip Disale. While Kaustubh Ganbote and Santosh Jagdale are Pune residents.

As per the Chief Minister’s office, the bodies of Sanjay Lele and Dilip Desale will be flown to Mumbai from Srinagar on an Air India flight. The remains of Pune residents Kaustubh Ganbote and Santosh Jagdale will arrive in Pune via a separate flight departing Srinagar. Hemant Joshi and Atul Mone’s remains will be transported to Mumbai on another flight.

To oversee and coordinate the arrangements, Ministers Ashish Shelar and Mangalprabhat Lodha will be stationed at the Mumbai airport. In Pune, Minister Madhuritai Misal has been assigned responsibility at the airport. Additionally, Minister Girish Mahajan is en route to Srinagar to manage operations on the ground, said Fadnavis.

Chief Minister Fadnavis assured that arrangements are being made to bring back other tourists from Maharashtra who are currently stranded in the region due to the attack.
