Snacks major, Haldiram, and stock brokers, Karvy Consultants, are among the winners for solar projects in the solar power purchase bids floated by the Telangana state.

(Solar power developers quote a price at which they can sell their power to the state, and the companies that quote the least prices, up to a total capacity of 500 MW in the case of Telangana, win rights to put up projects and sell power.)

Goldman Sachs-backed Renew Power, the US solar power major, First Solar, and the French-EDF backed ACME Solar have together won 300 MW out of the 500 MW offered. Mahindra EPC, part of the Mahindra group, got 30 MW. French company, Solar Direct, won two projects of 20 MW each.
