Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Monday said that the Centre has issued an advisory to the state governments to identify Rohingya migrants and collect their biometric data.

“Advisory has been issued to all states and they have been told to identify them (Rohingya migrants) and take their biometrics. Once the states send in their reports to the Centre, we will then look into it through diplomatic channel with Myanmar,” Singh said at a media conference at the state secretariat here today.

Rajnath Singh was in town for a Eastern Zonal Council meeting to discuss the issues related to interstate relations and security matters. The meeting, which was hosted by the West Bengal Chief Minister, Mamata Banerjee, was attended by Jharkhand Chief Minister Raghubar Das and Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Modi.

Calling it a ‘successful’ meeting, he said, out of 30 items listed for discussion, nearly 26 items were resolved.
