“States will be held accountable if they don’t supply 24x7 electricity from April 2019”

State governments will be mandated to offer 24x7 power supplies from April 1, 2019 said Minister of State (Independent Charge), R K Singh.

Speaking at the Conference of Power and New & Renewable Energy Ministers of States & Union Territories, Singh said, “We will hold the states accountable for providing 24x7 power supplies from April 2019. This has been promised in the agreements signed with us.”

Singh said that the state power distribution companies (DISCOMs) will have to bill ‘each unit sold’ to ensure that these targets are met.
