Team Anna began its fast at Jantar Mantar on Wednesday, stepping up its demand for a special investigation team to probe corruption charges against 15 UPA Cabinet Ministers.

It did not even spare the President, Mr Pranab Mukherjee, who enjoys Constitutional immunity, as he took oath of office on Wednesday.

Attacking Mr Mukherjee, Team Anna member, MrArvind Kejriwal, said they would continue to raise allegations against Mr Mukherjee, even though he cannot be probed.

In the morning, hundreds of people started thronging the fast venue since, even as suspected NSUI activists tried to disrupt by shouting anti-Anna slogans.

Three Team Anna members, Mr Arvind Kejriwal, Mr Manish Sisodia and Mr Gopal Rai began the fast. Veteran anti-graft activist, Mr Anna Hazare, however, said he would wait for four days for the Government to react to the demands, and then join the fast.

Meanwhile Union Law Minister, Mr Salman Khurshid, who had a few days ago held ‘secret’ parleys with Mr Hazare, said Team Anna was raising issues that had been rejected by the Supreme Court, and if they did not have any faith in it, they could approach the United Nations. He was replying to a question on Team Anna’s demand for an independent probe against 15 Cabinet Ministers.
