TiE Kerala to host workshop on entrepreneurship tomorrow

The Indus Entrepreneurs (TiE) Kerala will host a workshop on ‘Entrepreneur-friendly emerging Kerala’ at Technopark here on Saturday.

A slew of development and infrastructure agencies of the state government will be co-hosts to the event, a TiE Kerala spokesman said here.

EMERGING KERALA

The workshop is being held as part of the build-up to the ‘Emerging Kerala Global Connect 2012’ event being held next month.

The one-day workshop will discuss what steps the state government needs to take to make the state more entrepreneur-friendly, the spokesman said.

A panel of leading industrialists, management experts, professionals, senior government officials and front agencies of the government will review the prevailing entrepreneurial support system.

It will also seek to suggest short and long term measures to be taken to develop a successful ecosystem for the growth of entrepreneurship in the State.

KEY ISSUES

Key issues coming up for discussion include education and training, access to funding and administrative support, regulatory issues and incentives, says John K. Paul, president, TiE Kerala.

The panel will also consider the changes needed in the current entrepreneurial infrastructure and go into specific requirements of various sectors.

“The outcome will be submitted to the government as recommendations for suitable action,” Paul said.

The occasion will also see release of a brochure on TiEcon Kerala 2012, a gathering of entrepreneurs in the state, scheduled to be held in Kochi on October 25 and 26.

Among those who are expected to speak at the workshop are V. Somasundaram, additional chief secretary, Kerala; G. Vijayaraghavan, member, planning board; John K. Paul, managing director, Popular Vehicles and Services; V. K. Mathews, executive chairman, IBS Group; Plc., C. Balagopal, managing director , Terumo Penpol; Girish Babu, chief executive officer, Technopark; Thomas John Muthoot, Muthoot Fincorp; E. M. Najeeb, chairman and chief executive officer, ATE Ltd; K.C. Chandrasekharan Nair, chief financial officer, Technopark; Alexander Verghese, country head India, UST Global; Jose Dominic, managing director, CGH Earth; and Rajesh Nair, vice president, Ernst & Young.

Representatives of the district industries centre, Kerala Infrastructure Development Corporation, Kerala State Industrial Development Corporation, Kerala Financial Corporation and leading banks will also participate in the workshop.
