TN to allocate Rs 27 cr to boost tourism

With a view to give a fillip to tourism in the state, Tamil Nadu government on Wednesday proposed allocation of over Rs 27 crore to provide basic amenities for devotees in places of worship.

Chief Minister Jayalalithaa has approved the amount which will be utilised towards such initiatives at temples, dargahs and churches in districts such as Ariyalur, Tirunelveli, Ramanathapuram, Tiruchirappalli and Namakakkal, a government release said here today.

The allocation would also be used to beautify bird sanctuaries, setting up of boat houses, among others, across the state.
