HDFC Bank, in partnership with the Thiruvananthapuram Police, has launched a campaign to make roads safer by spreading awareness about the do’s and don’ts of road safety. This initiative is called ‘Traffic Paathshala’.

MK Zulfiqer, Assistant Commissioner of Police, along with Srikumar Nair, Zonal Head (South Kerala), HDFC Bank, inaugurated initiative here on Thursday by flagging-off an awareness rally by volunteers.

“Nearly four lakh people are expected to benefit from the initiative that covers the major road crossings in the city including the Central Bus Station and Central Railway Station,” a bank spokesman said.

The awareness rally, which will be undertaken by groups of volunteers and HDFC Bank employees, would be held at all important and busy traffic junctions across the city. The volunteers would carry placards having traffic awareness messages to encourage people to follow road safety rules.

While motorists found observing traffic discipline would rewarded with a token of appreciation, those found violating it will be enrolled in the ‘Traffic Paathshala ’ and informed about the do’s and don’ts of road safety.

Srikumar Nair said that “at HDFC Bank, we believe in giving back to the communities we operate in. With ‘Traffic Paathshala ,’ we aim to educate the general public in the city on the do’s and don’ts of road safety. We believe that this is the need of the hour in a city that is witnessing an increasing number of accidents and casualties.”
