Top global defence, energy honchos to take part in Vibrant Gujarat Summit

PM to inaugurate Global CEO conference on January 10

Global corporate leaders from the fields of energy, infrastructure, aviation, defence and electrical will form the global CEO round-table when the Prime Minister Narendra Modi visits Gujarat on January 9-10, 2017 during the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit.

As part of the VGGS 2017, a global CEO Roundtable with a theme ‘Transforming India’ has been proposed to encourage constructive dialogue and networking of the global and Indian corporate magnates with Prime Minister Modi, Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley and Chief Minister of Gujarat Vijay Rupani.

As per the latest information shared by the Gujarat government officials, as many as 35 global CEOs have confirmed their participation for the event on January 10 at Mahatma Mandir in Gandhinagar.

"There will be top 35 global CEOs and 23 business leaders from India for the Global CEO round table. The discussions with the Prime Minister would unearth and crystallize the industry’s expectations regarding ‘the ideal investment destination’," said P K Taneja, additional chief secretary for industries and mines, Gujarat government.

"The outcome of the CEO Round table would enable not only the Gujarat Government, but also the Central Government, identify the specific action points to become the undisputed leader with regards to global investment friendliness," Taneja said while addressing media here.

Among the big names include US aviation major Boeing International president, chairman and CEO of French energy player, Electricite de France along with French defence player Dassault Aviation's CEO Eric Trappier and Swedish defence company SAAB AB's president and CEO apart from CEOs of Qatar's RasGas Company, chairman of Japanese heavy engineering player Toyo Engineering and top officials from Hitachi.

From the Indian corporate world, most of the top business leaders having interests in energy, defence and infrastructure will make it to the event.

The list includes Reliance Industries top boss Mukesh Ambani and Reliance ADA chief Anil Ambani, Aditya Birla Group chief Kumar Mangalam Birla, Shashi Ruia from Essar Group, Anand Mahindra from Mahindra Group, e-commerce leader Flipkart's Sachin Bansal, Olacabs' co-founder Bhavish Aggarwal along with Arundhati Bhattacharya, chairperson of public sector lender, State Bank of India (SBI).

Commenting about the expectations from the event, Taneja stated that the eighth edition of the Summit will see increased number of participation from the global visitors. "The initial response is overwhelming. In last three-four months we have seen good interest for the investments," said Taneja adding that the government will bring out policies to make it convenient to do business in Gujarat.
