The AAP government in Delhi battled a fresh crisis on Thursday, triggered by bureaucrats publicly protesting against the way they are being treated.

A combative Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia alleged that retired bureaucrats who are running a “transfer-posting industry” in Delhi are now trying to foment trouble because the AAP is trying to put a stop to such corrupt practices.

He attacked officers of the Arunachal Pradesh-Goa- Mizoram-Union Territories cadre who had expressed “anguish” over the way senior officials are being treated in the stand-off between the Delhi government and Lt Governor Najib Jung.

“In Delhi, ‘transfer-posting’ is a big industry and we have stopped it in the last three months. This is why people are opposing us. Crores were made through the ‘transfer-posting industry’ in Delhi,” Sisodia said.

The BJP, meanwhile, maintained that the AAP has a penchant for controversy. “Controversy after controversy... and finally now, Jung se jung (fight with Jung). The problem is that they (AAP leaders) want to continuously create controversy. He (Kejriwal) has become ‘controversywal’ from ‘nautankiwal’. Controversy and Kejriwal are made for each other,” said party leader Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi.
