Builders in Mangalore have been asked to think about meeting the basic consumer requirements while planning their projects.
Inaugurating a two-day real estate exhibition in Mangalore on Saturday, J.R. Lobo, MLA of Mangalore South, said some builders have given good projects to the city. However, they have to keep the basic consumer requirements in mind. If they fail to do so, consumers will lose confidence in them.
Giving an example of a project where the builder failed to provide drainage facility, Lobo said it created problem not only to the residents of that apartment block but also to the people in the surrounding region.
“When you lose the confidence of the consumer, the entire real estate industry will suffer,” he said.
Minister for Health and Family Welfare U.T. Khader said on the occasion that builders in the region had contributed to the beautification of the city.
Vijaya Vishnu Mayya, Chairman of the Association of Consulting Civil Engineers (Mangalore chapter), said that construction is a complex sector. After water, cement is the most used commodity in the world, he said.
Pushparaj Jain, president of the Mangalore centre of CREDAI (Confederation of Real Estate Developers’ Associations of India), spoke on the occasion.

K. Narasimha Prabhu, Chief Executive Officer and managing director of the event management company, said his company had been organising real estate expos in Mangalore and Udupi for the past four years.
The company will organise a ‘karavali real estate expo’ (in Kannada, coastal Karnataka is called as karavali Karnataka) in Bangalore, Mumbai and Dubai during the last quarter of the current calendar year.
