Sahara Housingfina stock slumps 3%

Shares of Sahara Housingfina Corporation today fell over three per cent as Sahara Group chief Subrata Roy, who was arrested on Friday, appeared in the Supreme Court today.

The scrip of Sahara Housingfina Corp fell by as much as 3.17 per cent to an intra—day low of ₹ 38.15 apiece on the BSE. At 1326 hours, shares were trading at ₹ 38.20, down 3.05 per cent from the previous close.

However, scrip of another listed entity of the group Sahara One Media & Entertainment climbed 4 per cent to touch an intra—day high of ₹ 65 per share on the BSE.

On volume front, as many as 179 shares of Sahara Housingfina were traded on the exchange, while 10 Sahara One Media & Entertainment shares exchanged hands on the bourse.

The arrest warrant was issued against Roy in connection with the case in which his two companies —— Sahara India Real Estate Corp Ltd and Sahara India Housing Investment Corp Ltd —— have been directed to refund ₹ 20,000 crore to investors.

Roy was arrested on Friday morning by Lucknow police after high drama. The arrest came after the Supreme Court refused to withdraw the non—bailable warrant against Sahara chief.

A man threw black ink on Roy’s face today while he was being escorted into Supreme Court premises.
