Scion of Mysore royal family passes away

Srikantadatta Narashimharaja Wodeyar at a press conference called in association with elections to the Karnataka State Cricket Association last month.

Srikantadatta Narasimharaja Wodeyar (60), scion of the Mysore royal dynasty, passed away in Bangalore on Tuesday following a cardiac arrest.

Wodeyar was a Member of Parliament four times, representing Congress from the Mysore constituency. Recently, he was elected president of Karnataka State Cricket Assocation (KSCA) for the second time.

Born in 1953, the only son of Maharaja Jayachamarajendra Wodeyar, the last Maharaja of Mysore, he succeeded his father as the head of his dynasty in September 1974. He is survived by wife Pramoda Devi.
