Saina, Gopichand to support energy conservation drive

Badminton ace Saina Nehwal and super coach Pullela Gopichand will support the drive for energy conservation in Andhra Pradesh, with power shortage looming ahead in the summer months.

The State energy conservation missionwants to take the movement to the doorstep of the public. The voluntary support lent by the Hyderabadi sports icons today is expected to give a big boost.

State Chief Secretary Minnie Mathew said the Goverment has also constituted district-level energy committees under the chairmanship of district collectors to initiate action at the grassroot levels in the field.

The Chief Secretary said huge energy savings was possible through simple conservation measures. Consumers can tap this potential not only to pave way for avoiding wastage of precious power but also reducing electricity bills in particular.

While assuring their full support, the sports personalities said that energy conservation is a social responsibility and requested all stakeholders to actively take part.
