Novak Djokovic stays clear at top of ATP rankings

Serbian Novak Djokovic continues to hold a comfortable lead at the top of the men’s tennis rankings going into the Madrid Masters.

Djokovic has 12,900 points, well ahead of Switzerland’s Roger Federer (8,670) and Andy Murray of Britain (8,570) in the ATP rankings released today.

Spain’s Rafael Nadal goes into his home tournament still in fifth spot, behind compatriot David Ferrer.

Federer, the tournament’s defending champion, is meanwhile playing for the first time since mid-March after taking a pre-planned training and rest break.
