The Telangana government will set up a biotech and pharma facility, B-Hub, with an investment of ₹60 crore.
The state-of-the-art Hub, which will have a scale-up manufacturing facility for biopharma-based R&D, will come up at the Genome Valley here.
This was announced by KT Rama Rao, Telangana Minister of Industries & Commerce, here on Tuesday.
The B-Hub will be set up through the PPP (Public-Private Partnership) model and will also have a turnkey incubator/lab space module.
“With Indian companies aggressively embarking on the global biosimilars opportunity, a Biopharma scale-up facility will help them leapfrog in their endeavour, while reducing the time to market,’’ Rama Rao said.
A life-sciences portal to connect the Government, the industry and the academia was also launched by the Minister.
According to Jayesh Ranjan, Principal Secretary (ITE&C), there are more than 800 pharma/biotech units in various parts of Hyderabad today with an estimated annual turnover of $13 billion.
