Shah Rukh Khan's production houses would use the upcoming film city in West Bengal. As its brand ambassador, the film star inaugurated the first phase of the 2,700-acre, Rs 1,000-crore project on Sunday.

Dubbed as the largest film city in the world, the project is located in the the “red” zone of the State. “Had it been ready, I would have utilised this gigantic infrastructure for my film that is currently being prepared.

“Next year, however, I would definitely use it; maybe I will ask the film city to make one or two constructions specific to my next project,” he said. It would help both the Bengal and Indian film industry, he added.

Sprawling campus

He said that from the helicopter he could see the sprawling and unique campus. The project, 165 km west of Kolkata and in the midst of sal forests, has been taken up by the city-based Prayag group.

He also released a three-minute promotional film, featuring the Bollywood Badsha himself, as also a logo and a Web site of the film city.

He entertained a large audience before flying back to Kolkata to be present at the IPL match between KKR and Kings XI Punjab.

Noted Bollywood art director Nitish Ray is the creative spirit behind the project, which will also include a resort, an amusement park and a film museum.

An entrepreneur?

The star said he would not call himself an entrepreneur but as someone who “takes things forward” for the industry and sports. Modelling and brand endorsements, he said, were offshoots of such endeavour. “I look for these opportunities and grab them whenever they come. But there is still an actor left in me,” he added
