Creators Street and Epiko Con have announced the WAVES Cosplay Championship, scheduled at the World Audio Visual & Entertainment Summit (WAVES) 2025 in Mumbai from May 1-4, 2025.
It will cover Indian mythology, pop culture, Anime, Manga, and Marvel.
The event will bring together the country’s most talented cosplayers, celebrating their artistry, dedication, and craftsmanship.
The Telangana Government, ICA Indian Comics Association, Forbidden Media & Entertainment Association of India (MEAI), and Telangana VFX Animation and Gaming Association (TVAGA), and the Union Ministry of Information and Broadcasting will organse the championship.
The championship provides a platform for participants to showcase their skills, creativity, and passion for pop culture. It aligns the country’s expanding entertainment and the Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming, Comics, and Extended Reality (AVGC-XR) sector, encouraging self-expression and innovation in costume design, performance, and character portrayal.
“About 80-100 finalists will present their cosplays live on the WAVES 2025 stage. Their performance will be judged by industry experts, international guests, and cosplay professionals,” a government statement said here on Monday.
Competition Structure & Selection Criteria
Cosplayers can submit their entries online, which will be reviewed by a jury. The top 80-100 applicants will be selected for the championship. The short-listed participants will be emailed.
The registration process, which opened on March 28, will close on April 7.
