With introduction of the electronic visa facility (e-visa), Bengaluru has witnessed a 7.24 per cent upswing in inbound travel from January to May this year.

Skyscanner, a travel search engine, has revealed that Bengaluru’s amalgamation of technology ecosystem, lush landscape, and strong historic surroundings has attracted travellers from across the world.

The e-visa scheme for 150 countries is a major milestone in India to drive success within the tourism industry. Currently, the scheme is applicable to 77 nations.

“The country has seen a staggering 1,024.4 per cent growth in tourist arrivals on e-visa between January and May 2015. This proves that India is fast becoming a morepopular destination amongst foreigners,” Kavitha Gnanamurthy, Senior Marketing Manager, Skyscanner India.

Skyscanner said from the serene landscape and salubrious weather in the main city, to the picturesque hills of Kodagu (Coorg) and the charming colonial hill station of Ooty, Bengaluru is a perfect destination for travellers from across the world.

Often dubbed as the Silicon Valley of India, Bengaluru has been listed as the top cities to visit in India. In addition, with about an hour-long flight to Goa, Bengaluru attracts thousands of travellers each year.
