India is pushing to cut its dependence on hydrocarbon imports and focus more on harnessing domestic sources of energy, Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas, Dharmendra Pradhan, has said.

Speaking to presspersons after Petrotech - 2019, Pradhan said, “India has become a large consumer of oil and gas and it is becoming a producer too. We are working to meet our requirements through localised resources. Not just hydrocarbons, we have also discussed ways to harness other sources of energy at Petrotech - 2019.”

Pradhan said India is pushing to popularise the concept of energy justice around the world. “We have had bilateral discussions with 16 countries. We held healthy talks with neighbouring nations, there were also healthy talks with the major producers and suppliers of oil,” he added.
