Taiwan investigates Acer employee for alleged insider trading

Taiwan arrested the spokesman of computer manufacturer Acer Inc on Wednesday on suspicion of insider trading, a news report said.

Henry Wang was detained with saleswoman Luo Fang-ru in connection with the alleged illegal use of information about the company in share trading, the Central News Agency reported.

Another seven people were arrested and released on bail, following raids on 14 offices including the company’s headquarters on Tuesday after authorities received a tip-off.

Shares in the company dropped 3 per cent in morning trading.
