The Management Development Institute (MDI) Gurgaon kicked off its first conference of the Global Conference series on ‘Managing in Recovering Markets’ on Wednesday. The three-day conference will serve as a platform for researchers, academicians and policy-makers to showcase their white papers, and discuss various facets of the theme.

The global conference series by MDI will include 13 conferences over a period of three years.

The business school will hold a series of four international conferences every year on the theme for the coming three years.

The series will focus on enhancing research into the area and encourage ongoing discussions on the recovering markets for finding solutions to the existing problems.

“We realised the current form of conferences which are usually a day or two long hardly succeed in finding solutions to the proposed issues, so we thought of coming up with a conference format that will engage people for long term for finding answers to the existing problems,” said Mukul Gupta, the MDI Director in a press briefing. “The global conference series will attract people from different backgrounds who look at a situation differently.”

This year, besides the one currently being held in Gurgaon, there are three other conferences slated to be held in October, November and December in South Asia, Australia or North America.

Some of the subjects that will be deliberated upon during these conferences are consumer preferences and marketing management, CSR, emerging economies and human resource management, strategic HRM and organisational behaviour, strategic marketing and brand management, strategic procurement and pricing, ERP, retail, ICT, and social media, equity markets, banking and financial management.
