The country's largest passenger car manufacturer Maruti Suzuki India (MSIL) on Monday reported a standalone net profit of Rs 1,284 crore for the fourth quarter ended March 31, 2015.

The net profit stood at Rs 800 crore in the corresponding period last year, posting a growth of 60.5 per cent.

Net sales also grew 12.3 per cent to Rs 13,272.6 crore from Rs 11,818 crore, the company said.

The company had sold 3,46,712 units during the fourth quarter compared with 3,24,870 cars in the same period last year.

For the whole year, MSIL reported a standalone net profit of Rs 3,711 crore against Rs 2,783 crore during 2014.

This is the highest-ever year in terms of net profit, the company said.

Higher volumes, favourable foreign exchange and material cost-reduction initiatives have contributed to the bottomline performance, the company added.

The board of directors of MSIL recommended a dividend of 500 per cent (Rs 25 per share of face value of Rs 5) for 2014-15.

In 2013-14, the dividend stood at 240 per cent (Rs 12 per share of face value Rs 5).
