Eberhard Kern, Managing Director and CEO, Mercedes-Benz India, said rising input costs and higher import duties had been exerting pressure on their bottomline for quite some time. The weakening of the currency and higher taxes had further impacted the business.

Luxury car maker Mercedes-Benz India has announced it is raising the price of its entire range of models effective from September 1. The price revision will range from 2.5 per cent to 4.5 per cent.

The raise is on account of exchange rate effects, higher import duties and rising input costs coupled with a host of other unfavourable factors such as higher interest rates which have been impacting the bottomline, the company said.

Eberhard Kern, Managing Director and CEO, Mercedes-Benz India said, “The rising input costs and higher import duties have been creating significant pressure on our bottomline for quite some time now. The constant weakening of the currency and the increase in other relevant taxes further impacted the business adversely.”

Following the revision, the A 180 CDI and B 180 will be priced 4 per cent higher at Rs 22.05 lakh and Rs 23.5 lakh. The C-Class 200 CGI will now cost Rs 32.25 lakh, an increase of 2.5 per cent. The newly launched E-Class 200 CGI will now be available at Rs 42.16 lakh, up by 3.5 per cent, while the ML-Class 250 CDI luxury SUV will now be priced at Rs 50.98 lakh, up by 4 per cent. (All prices are ex-showroom Mumbai). The price of the newly rolled out GL-Class remains unchanged.
