Mumbai-based, errand-running and same-day delivery service, GetMyPeon received its first round of seed funding of ₹1.5 crore ($250,000) after being in business for nearly three years.

The bootstrapped company began its operations in Mumbai in July 2012 with a capital of ₹20,000 offering highly customisable nature of services from delivering vada-pav from a specific food stall to a client waiting at the airport, accompanying a client’s grandparent to the doctor’s clinic, paying tuition fees and utility bills for customers, to midnight deliveries of cake, flowers and gifts on special occasions, etc.

GetMyPeon operates out of Mumbai, Thane and Vashi providing services to over 1,000 active clients with a guaranteed delivery time of 90 minutes and offers services from 7 a.m. to midnight.

Commenting on the first round of seed funding, 29-year-old, Bharat Ahirwar, Founder – GetMyPeon, said, “GetMyPeon was started with a simple vision of running errands for individuals and helping them with their daily chores.

“This has now turned into a reliable, affordable, dependable and the most available service to get anything personal to official done in the city.

“Whether it is picking up cakes, parcels, documents, gifts, wedding cards, and couriers to taking your car or bike for servicing or receiving guests from the airport or railway station; we offer an entire gamut of services. This round of funding will help us scale up operations.” The funds received will be invested in building the company’s technology infrastructure, both front-end and back-end, adding vehicles, ramping up its field executive count from 60-150, developing a mobile app that will be launched in 60 days, and expanding into three cities – Bengaluru, Delhi and Pune by December.

In addition to the traditional way of taking orders via calls and e-mails, GetMyPeon also accepts orders via WhatsApp Mobile messenger and Twitter tweets.

Currently, 10 per cent of GetMyPeon’s tech savvy customers tweet a task to GetMyPeon.

Customer segments

The start-up has three customer segments – individuals, small and medium businesses and corporates such as Disney and Pepsi, which have a dedicated GetMyPeon desk to take care of errands for employees.

“We are in the process of tying up with online and e-commerce firms to provide last mile delivery beginning July,” said Ahirwar.
