Sintex Industries, a manufacturer of popular rugged material water storage tanks, is targeting the sewerage treatment business in the home, small offices and satellite townships.

The company has developed easy to install integrated plants that can be implanted underground and help its owner manage the problem of sewerage scientifically. This is taken care through a decentralised waste water system.

These sewerage treatment installations are also suitable for homes and offices located at places where there is no underground drainage systems and also in satellite townships.

Amit Shah, Deputy General Manager of Sintex, told

Business Line that the company has developed these treatment units and customised solutions around them. These units serve the twin objective of treating sewerage and help reuse mineral rich water for gardening.

All people have to do is just order for a plant. The plant, depending upon the requirement, has to be installed underground. There are already more than 250 installations and there is a big latent demand out there for small plants of this nature, he said.

The company is engaged in talks with local civic authorities to impress upon the importance of such plants.

Sintex has collaborated with a Japanese company for technology and these units are made at the company's manufacturing unit. The treatment plant is simple to install and saves the hassle of constructing a re-enforced cement and concrete tank and various other installations.

Due to material from which the tank is made, there is no decomposition and the water thus treated can be used for gardening.

MORE PLANTS

The company has 11 manufacturing units for different products, including water storage and sewerage systems. Last year, a plant was commissioned at Namakkal in Tamil Nadu.

"We are looking at setting up two-three plants, possibly in the South," he said.
