Facebook Reloaded: Pictorial content to dominate

Soon, your Facebook interface is going to change. In the Facebook 2.0, users are going to have more pictorial presentation of the news feed. Some of you could start experiencing the new, re-designed Facebook right from today, while others would be introduced to this new experience in phases.

Mark Zuckerberg, the Facebook Chief, has re-launched the social networking site, which reports suggest is losing users’ interest across the globe. Across all your mobility devices (phones, tablets) and the desktop PC, you are going to witness a similar view of the site.

He says it is time we have the best personalised newspaper. Showcasing the new interface for Facebook on Thursday night, he said the text content is under-30 per cent and the pictorial content touching the 50 per cent mark by January 2013.

“The changes we are making are in tune with the usage patterns. Our mission is to make the world more open and connected and provide the best personalised newspaper. We build services that tell what’s going on with friends and things they care about. Our goal is a lot broader,” he said.

The content, he argues, should have broad diversity of content. It should have high quality of public content from world renowned sources. It should also have socially and locally relevant updates from family and friends.
