ICC joins hands with Twitter for personalised direct message service

When a fan taps on the ‘message’ button on ICC’s profile (@ICC) on Twitter, he/she gets a welcome message from the ICC Champions Trophy bot service.

Twitter and International Cricket Council (ICC) have launched direct message service to cricket fans during ICC Champions Trophy.

When a fan taps on the ‘message’ button on ICC’s profile (@ICC) on Twitter, he/she gets a welcome message from the ICC Champions Trophy bot service.

It goes on to add that it will give the fan everything he/she needs to follow the tournament — from fixtures to results, standings and the latest videos of the best players in action.

“In a first for global sports federations, fans will be able to get a personalised experience via direct messages on Twitter with @ICC,” says a statement by Twitter about this service, adding that there is even a special surprise to unlock when fans pick their team.

Quoting Aarti Dabas, Head of Media Rights, Broadcast and Digital, ICC, it said: “We are thrilled to celebrate the Champions Trophy by being the first global sports federation to launch a personalised direct message experience for fans on Twitter to catch up with the latest videos and bringing our broadcast, commentators and players closer to the fans.”
